BIG ORANGE VIBES - CHANUKAH SECOND CANDLE
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided walk along the Tel Aviv Promenade.
  • Tour in Jaffa, one of the oldest cities in the world, hearing the story of the city from the time of Jonah the Prophet to the great return of Jewish pioneers to the land of Israel in 1881.
  • Travel to the Bat Yam.
  • Chanukah party with Amigour’s Bat Yam Housing Project for Seniors’ exemplary choir, consisting of 15 singers and instrumentalists with a rich repertoire of popular songs and classics in Russian, Yiddish, French and Hebrew.
  • Lunch on own.
  • The Writing on the Wall as a Teacher of Culture and Language: graffiti tour and Hebrew lesson with Guy Sharett.
  • Light the 2nd Chanukah candle.
  • Dinner and evening on own.

NEGBA – TO THE NEGEV - CHANUKAH THIRD CANDLE
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check-out of the hotel and proceed to Neot Kedumim.
  • At Neot Kedumim Biblical Nature Reserve (located within the Land of the Maccabees, the ancient city of Modi’in), picking olives, pressing them in an ancient olive press and witnessing the oil seeping out of them—the meaning of the “festival of light” comes to life.
    • Tree planting
  • Proceed to the Ben Gurion Institute in Sde Boker.
  • Lunch in Sde Boker Desert Research Institute.
  • Overlook from the gravesite of the first prime minister of the State of Israel, David Ben Gurion, on to Tzin Valley that the children of Israel had come through on their way to the Promised Land.
  • Check in to the hotel.
  • Light the 3rd Chanukah candle.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

  • Return to the hotel for rest, relaxation and spa.
  • Bedouin hospitality, followed by a Hafla dinner and drummers circle.

A CRACK IN THE EARTH - CHANUKAH FIFTH CANDLE
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check-out of the hotel.
  • Art and Agriculture: Visit Moshav Neot HaKikar in the northern Arava, where local artisans produce jewelry, pottery and metal sculptures as the moshav’s farmers offer tours of their fields that include an introduction to desert agriculture.
  • Proceed to Ein Bokek for an opportunity to float in the Dead Sea, followed by lunch.
  • Ascend Masada for a guided visit through the site and an exploration of the symbolism and questions that arise from the Masada story and their implications for Jewish life today.
  • Continue to Jerusalem’s Mount Scopus for an overview and welcome to the city with traditional bread and wine.
  • Check in to the hotel.
  • Light the 5th Chanukah candle.
  • Participate in “latke making” with members of Shutaf, an NGO that offers year-round activities for children, teens, and young adults, with and without disabilities.
  • Dinner and evening on own.

JERUSALEM THROUGH THE AGES - CHANUKAH SIXTH CANDLE
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Descend to the City of David and follow the footsteps of the architects and builders of the city some 3,000 years ago.
  • Stop at the Western Wall, a section of the retaining wall that encircled the Temple Court in ancient times and only remnant of the Temple compound built by Herod the Great.
  • Lunch on own in the Jewish Quarter.
  • Walk through the Old City to today’s Jewish Quarter for a guided visit through the Upper City of 2000 years ago.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Light the 6th Chanukah candle at a Jerusalem synagogue.
  • Kabbalat Shabbat at a Jerusalem synagogue.
  • Festive Shabbat dinner at the hotel or home hospitality.

  • Near Kibbutz Tzuba, tour an ancient winepress from 2000 years ago, followed by one of these activities:

  • Travel on the Jerusalem Light Rail, which follows the route where the wall dividing Jerusalem between 1948 and 1967 once existed.
  • Walls You See; Walls You Don’t See: With urban planner, Hersch Katz, tour the Neve Ya’akov neighborhood, a microcosm of the Jerusalem macrocosm, to understand the security, political, sociological and economic urban processes of modern Jerusalem.
  • Lunch and afternoon on own.
  • Festive farewell dinner.
  • Depart for Ben Gurion Airport for return flight to the United States.
